Announcing Islamic Chaplaincy Volunteer Program at CRMC

Muslim Spiritual Care Services (MSCS) is excited to announce the establishment of the Islamic Chaplaincy Volunteer Program at Community Regional Medical Center (CRMC).  The Islamic volunteer program strengthens our commitment to respond to the spiritual care needs of the diverse Muslim patients.

The Islamic Chaplaincy Program is a volunteer program and offers spiritual care services without charge.  The program is being led by a Muslim chaplain and supported by Muslim volunteers and is made available through generous financial contributions of Muslim individuals and institutions.

In order to provide spiritual care services to Muslim patients,
Muslim volunteers must fulfill all the requirements for volunteer & chaplain services at CRMC.  In addition to providing spiritual care services, volunteers will join as cultural brokers to serve the needs of the diverse Muslim community.

Muslim Spiritual Care Services will serve as a consultant for education and training to strengthen cultural competency, and enhance awareness of the religious needs of Muslim patients. In addition, MSCS will strive to establish effective partnerships between CRMC and the various Islamic Centers and Muslim organizations in the Valley.

Spiritual care services to Muslim patients will soon be available daily at CRMC hospitals in downtown Fresno and Clovis.

To receive Muslim spiritual care, or for more information, contact Chaplain Kamal Abu-Shamsieh at (559) 269-9205.
