Ziyara Muslim Spiritual Care may include the following:<\/p>\n

  1. Visiting of the Sick \/\u00a0<\/strong>Ziyarat Al-Mareed: \u00a0Visiting of the sick is a Muslim\u00a0essential right that is confirmed in authentic Hadith Qudsi and Hadith of the Prophet, peace be upon him. It is highly recommended to visit Muslim patients, support them during their illness. \u00a0Our chaplain and volunteers will visit any Muslim patient in all Fresno\/Clovis hospitals.<\/li>\n
  2. Reading of the Quran: <\/strong>The Quran is a source of healing. Chaplain and volunteers are ready to read the Quran for patients or provide a\u00a0copy of the Quran to the patient to read.<\/li>\n
  3. Dua<\/em>\u00a0\/ Supplication: <\/strong>Recite a dua<\/em> supplication for the healing of patients.<\/li>\n
  4. Prayer Request:<\/strong> Patients may request a prayer for them to be done after the Jum’a Friday prayers at one particular Masjid or at all Islamic Centers in Fresno.<\/li>\n
  5. Prayer Needs: <\/strong>Providing\u00a0<\/strong>patients with the direction of the Qibla, prayer schedule and will offer literature on how to pray, if necessary. \u00a0A prayer rug can be borrowed and returned to the nurse prior to discharge.<\/li>\n
  6. Burial & Funeral Services: <\/strong>Muslim chaplains and volunteers will stand by the Muslim patient and their family during their last moments. \u00a0A chaplain with recite Sura Yasin, turn the patient towards Mecca, if possible, and close the patient’s eyes upon death. \u00a0Also, chaplains are instrumental in assisting in funeral and burial services in coordination with the different Islamic Centers. \u00a0Our funeral services protect the dignity of the\u00a0deceased\u00a0and alleviate the pain of the family.<\/li>\n
  7. Halal Food: \u00a0<\/strong>We will provide\u00a0patients and their families who wish to receive a halal meal, a list of local\u00a0restaurants stores, and\u00a0will work to coordinate for them to receive halal meals at reasonable prices.<\/li>\n
  8. Diversity Training:\u00a0<\/strong>Our Chaplains and volunteers will offer religious and cultural competency training to all medical staff and spiritual care workers at any medical\u00a0institution in Central California. \u00a0The training will focus on how to take care of Muslim patients, the barriers to spiritual care among Muslim patients, the religious and cultural diversity of Muslim patients, Muslim beliefs, holidays and how to reach out of Muslims in the Valley.<\/li>\n
  9. Spiritual\u00a0Assessment:<\/strong> \u00a0The primary function of a chaplain to assess the needs of the patient by conducting a spiritual care\u00a0assessment. \u00a0The\u00a0discussion helps patients deal with stress, anger, spiritual vacuum and forgiveness, just to name a few.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
